انسان کو راز جو بنايا
راز اس کی نگاہ سے چھپايا
بے تاب ہے ذوق آگہی کا
کھلتا نہيں بھيد زندگی کا
حيرت آغاز و انتہا ہے
آئينے کے گھر ميں اور کيا ہے
ہے گرم خرام موج دريا
دريا سوئے سجر جادہ پيما
بادل کو ہوا اڑا رہی ہے
شانوں پہ اٹھائے لا رہی ہے
تارے مست شراب تقدير
زندان فلک ميں پا بہ زنجير
خورشيد ، وہ عابد سحر خيز
لانے والا پيام بر خيز
مغرب کی پہاڑيوں ميں چھپ کر
پيتا ہے مے شفق کا ساغر
لذت گير وجود ہر شے
سر مست مے نمود ہر شے
کوئی نہيں غم گسار انساں
کيا تلخ ہے روزگار انساں

Aaeene Ke Ghar Mein Aur Kya Hai
Hai Garm-e-Kharaam Mouj-e-Darya
Darya Sooye Behr Jadah Pema
Badal Ko Hawa Urha Rahi Hai
Shanon Pe Uthaye La Rahi Hai
Taare Mast-e-Sharab-e-Taqdeer
Zindan-e-Falak Mein Pa Ba Zanjeer
Khursheed, Woh Abid-e-Sehar Khaiz

Nature has played a strange and wanton joke—
Making man a seeker of secrets,
But hiding the secrets from his view!
The urge for knowledge gives him no rest,
But the secret of life remains undiscovered.
Wonder is at the beginning and the end—
What else is there in this house of mirrors?
The wave of the river glides along,
The river follows its course to the ocean,
The wind sweeps the clouds along,
Bearing them on its shoulders,
The stars are drunk with the wine of fate,
And lie chained in the sky’s prison;
The sun, a worshipper who gets up at dawn,
And calls out the message ‘Arise!’,
Is hiding in the western hills,
Drinking a cup of reddish wine.
All things delight in their very existence,
They are drunk with the wine of being.
But there is no one to drive away his sorrow—
How bitter are the days of man!
